Tournaments 101

Tournament Information

All tournament information is posted on your team page.

1. go to your team page

2. click on schedule

3. click on the location

This will take you to the Ohio Valley Region (OVR) page with all the needed information for the tournament.  Pools will be posted by Thursday during the week of the tournament. This will determine your pool play schedule.

The OVR page will also have all the facility's policies regarding food, chair, etc.

ALL OVR tournament facilities do NOT allow outside food brought into the facility.  If outside food is brought in, the facility can fine the team and/or club.

Tournaments are an all-day event!

Tournaments start at 8 AM or 8:30 AM and can last anywhere between 5-7 PM or later.  Please arrive at time set by your coach and/or the tournament director.

Please represent Lineshot Volleyball Club well and keep all areas clean and orderly during the day as well as making certain that the camp area is completely clean before you leave that site!

Please follow all COVID protocols set by the tournament director.  COVID information will be sent out to teams once we have the information regarding spectator limit, arrival times, entrances, etc.

TYPICAL PLAY SCHEDULE

Match 3 1 vs. 4 (3)
Match 4 2 vs. 3 (1)

SO, IF THIS IS THE POOL (as an example):

Ref/Work Team Responsibilities

During your teams Ref/Work time, they are responsible for line judging, R2 (down ref), libero tracker, scorekeeper and scoreboard. There are 6 jobs. Your coaches will make sure the responsibilities are distributed as evenly as possible. A new rule this year- a coach HAS to sit at the table with the ref/work team. Not new this year- there are no electronics (phones, ipod, ipad, etc.) allowed at the table (including the coach) or held by the R2 or linejudges. If a member of the ref/work team has an electronic device during their work time, during their next match their opponent will be awarded 10 points to start their next match. If there is not a match following the match that the work team is officiating, then the team will be fined a monetary amount. *This amount will be passed onto the team and divided among the members to be paid*

Food

If any of the rules below are not followed and a fine is assessed to the club, it will be passed onto the specific team that violated the rules!

OVR rules state no coolers allowed in the gym but you can keep one in your car.

No outside food (restaurant food i.e Subway, Chipotle,  Chick- fil- a etc.) can be brought into the tournament facilities! No outside food is permitted in the tournament facilities!

You may bring light snacks in your bag to eat between matches.

Some tournaments are pretty close to coffee houses and places to buy food. Others can be more remote so make sure you come prepared for either. These can be bought you just need to eat them outside by your car, not inside the facility.

Please represent Lineshot Volleyball Club well and keep all areas clean and orderly during the day as well as making certain that the camp area is completely clean before you leave that site!

Playing Time Concerns

Parents Golden Rule: Please do not discuss members of your daughter's team (including coaches)  in a negative manner in front of your daughter.

We encourage positive, enthusiastic support of all teams. coaches and players during the matches. This will help promote team chemistry and unity along with benefiting the team on and off the court.

If a question and/or concern in regards to playing time arises during a tournament, please do not approach the coach during the tournament. Playing time concerns will be addressed during a separate time set up by the coach, parent and player.  We do understand that playing time can be a frustrating concern for everyone involved. Encourage your daughter to do her best in the role she is in at that time. We are a team first organization and everyone is valuable to the team and can contribute to the success of the team.
